About Ziya Azazi:

Ziya was born in Turkey, graduated as a mining engineer and is based in Vienna, and speaks Turkish, English, German, and Arabic. Ziya trained in gymnastics, ballet, performing arts, and contemporary dance. In the 90’s he cooperated with several Viennese companies and began self-studying sufi dances in 1999. He created many pieces, and was awarded “The Most Outstanding Dancer of the Year in Austria”. He performs, offers workshops, sets creations & cooperated in more than 50 countries.

Ziya performed in the presence of royal family members of Denmark, Morocco, the Netherlands, Thailand, and United Kingdom, at Paralympics 2012, and lectured in academic and non-academic settings (a.o. at Goldsmiths University London, Culture University Istanbul, University of Music & Performing Arts Vienna, TEDx Talks at IKU/Istanbul, Joyology Talks at Galatasaray University Istanbul).
