With the chaotic mobility that we live in, there is nothing left to us than reforming our own selves again and again, and again….This workshop suggests a space for participants to challenge your limits through whirling in single, couple or group forms; to stimulate your ability for the thrill of bodily energy; and through these abilities, reach your goal movement within your own genre, spending less energy, with a higher level of

Whirling is not the main objective of this workshop. The greater goal is to improve one’s physical, emotional and mental awareness through whirling and the exercises prior to that. It will lead you to perceive and accept what is befalling throughout whirling, and reach an innovative movement by means


About Ziya Azazi:

Ziya was born in Turkey, graduated as a mining engineer and is based in Vienna, and speaks Turkish, English, German, and Arabic. Ziya trained in gymnastics, ballet, performing arts, and contemporary dance. In the 90’s he cooperated with several Viennese companies and began self-studying sufi dances in 1999. He created many pieces, and was awarded “The Most Outstanding Dancer of the Year in Austria”. He performs, offers workshops, sets creations & cooperated in more than 50 countries.

Ziya performed in the presence of royal family members of Denmark, Morocco, the Netherlands, Thailand, and United Kingdom, at Paralympics 2012, and lectured in academic and non-academic settings (a.o. at Goldsmiths University London, Culture University Istanbul, University of Music & Performing Arts Vienna, TEDx Talks at IKU/Istanbul, Joyology Talks at Galatasaray University Istanbul).
